Workers’ Comp-related Social Security Claims
In New Jersey, employees injured in workplace accidents or who develop on-the-job injuries receive temporary disability benefits through the state Workers’ Compensation system. If the injury is permanent, the employee may be eligible for permanent partial award or permanent total disability payments.

You may be eligible for additional benefits through Social Security Disability. State Disability-related Social Security Claims
New Jersey workers who become disabled due to injury or illness that is not work-related are eligible for New Jersey Temporary Disability benefits (also called State Disability) if they do not have long-term disability insurance through ERISA (private insurance).

As with Workers’ Comp, you may be entitled to receive Social Security Disability in addition to State Disability, which includes the added benefit of Medicare coverage. Also, State Disability lasts only 26 weeks (6 months). We assist clients in filing for Social Security Disability benefits while you are receiving State Disability, or when your State Disability eligibility is set to expire.
